Budding Brainiacs: New Fellowship Program at the McKnight Brain Institute Offers Mentorship From Leading Neuroscientists

The University of Florida recently selected five fellows for Gator NeuroScholars, a highly competitive program at UF’s McKnight Brain Institute that supports early-career neuroscientists, who will work side-by-side with some of the nation’s leading brain researchers.

The new fellowship program brings PhD neuroscience researchers to Gainesville to begin their careers, providing them with a stipend for two years. Fellows are also able to continue for a third year if they fulfill a commitment to submit a fellowship application or K award application by the end of their second year.

Designed to attract top researchers from across the world, the program’s first and current cohort is made up of post-docs from Australia, Canada, and the United States. Gator NeuroScholars aims to boost the Institute’s research capacity in critical fields like Parkinson’s research and ischemic strokes, discovering new and innovative technologies for the treatment of these complex diseases through effective mentorship and collaboration.
