Event Details

The National Science Foundation, in collaboration with industry partners Ericsson, Intel, and Qualcomm, is now accepting proposals for its Verticals-Enabling Intelligent Network Systems (VINES) program. This initiative supports both foundational research and applied technology development that is aimed at enhancing next-generation (NextG) intelligent network systems spanning the user-edge-core-cloud continuum. VINES is part of a multisector effort to position the U.S. as a global leader in advanced wireless telecommunications and emerging vertical industries.

The program offers two distinct tracks: Track 1, which supports use-inspired fundamental research on novel networking techniques, and Track 2, which funds technology development, demonstration, and translation activities for higher readiness-level solutions. This opportunity is geared toward researchers, academic institutions, and collaborative teams aiming to drive innovation in intelligent communications, network resilience, and trustworthy infrastructure. Track 1 offers up to $1,500,000 total per award and Track 2:, up to $6,000,000 total per award.

For those interested, Track 1 proposals are due by August 25, 2025, and Track 2 proposals are due by September 25, 2025, (with a required concept outline submission by August 25, 2025 for Track 2 applicants). Click here to learn more.
