Tech Tuesday: UF Civil Engineering Design Group Builds and Races Concrete Canoes

Brennan Kade, UF Concrete Canoe Team

In this week’s Tech Tuesday, our host Bethany Gaffey introduces Brennan Kade, project manager for the Concrete Canoe Team, a UF Civil Engineering design group. The civil engineering design team designs, builds, and races concrete canoes.

“How do you make concrete float? We’re here with UF Civil Engineering at Weil Hall to learn more. Brennan, tell us about Concrete Canoe,” said Gaffey.

“Well, here at Concrete Canoe, we’re a civil engineering design team where we design, build, and race concrete canoes. We’re actually one of the longest-tenured design teams here on campus, with over 30 years of experience, and in that time, we’ve had four national championships, including last year with 2024,” said Brennan Kade, project manager at Concrete Canoe Team.
