SATLANTIS, the Company That Manufactures Small Satellites for NASA
More and more companies have decided to return to Spain to bet on national technology. One example is UF startup and UF Innovate | Accelerate at The Hub resident SATLANTIS, a company dedicated to making high-resolution optical cameras for viewing Earth from space. It was born at the University of Florida by Rafael Guzmán, Cristina Garmendia, and Juan Tomás Hernani. After a year of activity, they opened an office in Bilbao, Spain, a commitment to the national market that so far seems to be working for them. They have 55 employees, expect to end the year with a turnover of almost 7 million euros, and have six missions spread throughout the world.
Its CEO, Juan Tomás Hernani, emphasizes that “the new space industry is producing jobs that did not exist four years ago. We have the possibility of turning it into a consolidated industry, which offers the space world a new and different look that puts the customer at the center.”
