Department of Surgery Members Honored at 25th Annual Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education Reception

Several members of the Department of Surgery were honored April 3 at the 25th annual Celebration of Excellence in Medical Education reception. The Society of Teaching Scholars recognizes College of Medicine faculty who exemplify a commitment to fostering the growth of physicians and scientists through education, mentorship and scholarship.

Congratulations to Eric Jeng, M.D., M.B.A., FACS, FACCan associate professor of surgery in the division of cardiovascular surgery, on receiving the 2025 UF GME Unsung Hero Award. This award is given to a College of Medicine faculty member who goes above and beyond their role to support education, wellness and humanism for residents and fellows.

Martina Murphy, M.D., senior associate dean of graduate medical education, said this award recognizes a faculty member who quietly but powerfully shapes the experience of UF housestaff.
