LightPath Technologies Expands Orlando Workforce Following $27M Acquisition

UF startup LightPath Technologies is expanding its workforce at its global headquarters near UCF following the Feb. 18 acquisition of G5 Infrared LLC for $27 million.

The firm at 2603 Challenger Tech Court is aiming to fill positions through partnerships with local colleges as it anticipates significant revenue growth.

LightPath President and CEO Sam Rubin told during the company’s Feb. 25 investor day meeting the provider of next-gen optics and imaging systems for defense and commercial applications has “recruiting needs for technical people.”

“Orlando specifically, where the heavy manufacturing part is done, we have multiple positions for assemblers, technicians, operators, process engineers — you name it,” Rubin said.
