Tech Tuesday: University of Florida Startups Encouraged To Apply for Upcoming GatorPitch Event

Melissa Kuchma, GatorPitch Miami Spring 2025

In this edition of Tech Tuesday, UF Innovate’s host Bethany Gaffey introduce us to Melissa Kuchma of UF Innovate, who encourages UF startups to apply to pitch in front of an audience of investors in the Miami area.

“The University of Florida may be in Gainesville, but the Gator Nation is everywhere. We’re here with UF Innovate to learn more. Melissa, tell us more about who you are and what you do,” said Gaffey.

“I’m Melissa Kuchma and I’m part of UF Innovate. I work with the university’s best and brightest technologies, talent, and startups to bring them around the state and show off what we can do. And one of the ways that we do that is with GatorPitch. It’s an event that is a fast-pitch event, so the companies get about four minutes to quickly tell what they’re doing, and four minutes of questions and answers. And the rest of the time we left it so that they’d be able to walk around the room and network because even if you’re not winning, you’re still getting that exposure,” said Melissa Kuchma, assistant director of corporate engagement and tech licensing at Gator Pitch.
