U.S. Air Force Contract To Expand UF’s Research, Innovation and Education Missions in Panhandle
In a continuing partnership, the U.S. Air Force has awarded the University of Florida a $49 million contract for cutting-edge research and workforce development at UF’s regional engineering campus adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base.
The Department of Defense noted last week that the contract for the Research and Engineering Education Facility (REEF) will provide the “academic core of regional innovation, education and workforce development competency.” UF’s Florida Applied Research in Engineering (FLARE) team, part of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, is leading the partnership, which includes applied research and development capability complementing Air Force Research Laboratory and Eglin Air Force Base missions.
