A Bacterial Toxin That Promotes Colorectal Cancer Metastasis
UF researcher Christian Jobin has suggested that microbial cells in the gut can impact human health, with some promoting colorectal cancer metastasis. His study, published in Cell Host & Microbe, highlights targeting a bacterial toxin as a potential way to prevent severe cancer outcomes.
“This work provides a new understanding of how bacterial toxins drive colorectal metastasis, paving the way for novel screening approaches to identify at-risk patients,” said Dr. Jobin, senior study author and Professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
