UF moves forward with site for new campus in Jacksonville
The University of Florida Board of Trustees’ Governance, Government Relations, and Internal Affairs Committee has approved a recommendation to select the area around the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center as the site for its new Jacksonville campus, Chair Mori Hosseini announced.
This initiative aims to establish a national center of excellence, advancing academic and research endeavors in key areas such as health and semiconductor technology. The campus will enhance UF Health’s contributions through advanced graduate and professional degree programs, with plans to launch by fall 2026.
In addition to academic offerings, UF will create a world-class research presence in Jacksonville. A significant focus will be semiconductor technology, spearheaded by the Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI). With a vision for global leadership in specialty electronics, FSI will build partnerships, accelerate R&D, and expand the workforce pipeline to strengthen Florida’s semiconductor industry and beyond.
