Tech Tuesday: University of Florida Professor Investigates How Organisms Adapt Their Metabolism When in Outer Space

Dr. Rob Ferl, UF Astraeus Space Institute

In this week’s Tech Tuesday, UF Innovate’s Bethany Gaffey interviews Dr. Rob Ferl, a distinguished scientist and professor of horticultural sciences, as well as the director of the UF Astraeus Space Institute. At the UF Astraeus Space Institute, Ferl investigates how organisms adapt their metabolism in the unique environment of outer space.

“If you thought doing science experiments was hard, try doing them in outer space. We’re here at UF’s Fifield Hall to learn more. Rob, tell us who you are and what you do,” said Gaffey.

“Hi, my name’s Rob Ferl. I’m a scientist here at the University of Florida interested in what happens to biology in space,” said Rob Ferl, director of UF Astraeus.
