UF Scientists Rate Effectiveness of COVID-19 Vaccines
Most coronavirus vaccines protect against death from disease, scientists from UF said. Research shows that Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna are the most effective vaccines.
The effectiveness of vaccines against COVID-19 averaged about 85%. The drugs provide a high level of protection against hospitalization and death from coronavirus infection, scientists Yulia Shapir, Natalie Dean, Ira Longini and their colleagues said in a study published Friday. UF researchers compared data from journal articles and media reports about the drugs they were investigating.
