Pear, etectRx To Explore Use of Sensors To Help Patients Stick With Digital Therapeutics
Pear Therapeutics is teaming up with UF Innovate | The Hub startup etectRx in a “first of its kind” collaboration examining the use of digital pill solutions with prescription digital therapeutics (PDTs), the latter company announced. As part of the agreement, whose financial terms were not disclosed, the companies will work on developing up to two central nervous system product candidates combining PDTs and adherence sensors.
Valerie Sullivan, chief executive at etectRx, remarked that the partnership “comes at a critical time for the mental health field… Our goal for this collaboration is to bring concrete solutions to those who need it.” Meanwhile, Pear CEO Corey McCann envisions “a significant opportunity for PDTs that involve digital pill technologies, like [etectRx’s] ID-Cap system,” adding that “optimised medication dosing presents a treatment lever for PDTs and creates opportunity for a whole range of drug/software combination products.”
