Jim Bowie Leaves UCF to Join UF Innovate | The Hub As New Associate Director

Jim Bowie, site manager for the University of Central Florida business incubator in Kissimmee, believes in good timing. It’s the key to building a successful business and a successful career, he said. It was time for Bowie to move on from Kissimmee heading for a similar job with the business incubator at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

He has been in the business world for 40 years, nine of them at the UCF incubator in Kissimmee and St. Cloud.  He ran several successful businesses – one of which went public – before changing focus in 2006. That’s when he took a job at the business incubator at Georgia Institute of Technology.

University-directed business incubation programs were a natural fit for him, he said.  “It was a very comfortable feeling. It felt normal to me,” said Bowie, who has been a mentor to hundreds of entrepreneurs who’ve come through the incubator program. “I got to touch so many people trying to grow their business. It’s been really fulfilling.”
