UF Researcher Receives $250,000 Grant to Combat Pediatric Cancer

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation awarded Dr. Catherine Flores, an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, with the Innovation Grant. The two-year grant will help her research into the use of stem cell therapy to fight against brain tumors in children.

“The diagnosis of a tumor is life-changing for not only the patient but their families, their caregivers, and the people around them. We are honored through awards such as this to be able to try to make a difference and make an impact in those lives,” said Flores.
