Morphogenesis Focused on Cancer Treatment Launches First Human Clinical Study (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
UF startup Morphogenesis Inc. is launching its first human clinical study for treatment for skin cancer.
It’s an important benchmark for the Tampa company, a UF Innovate | Sid Martin Biotech alumnus, which raised $16 million earlier this year in a Series A investment round led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. Kiran Patel.
The Phase 1 study is “the biggest milestone so far” for Morphogenesis, said CEO Patricia Lawman, who co-founded the company in 1995.
Morphogenesis is developing targeted immunotherapies, treatments that use the body’s own immune system, to fight cancer.
