The Future of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Higher Ed

Mark Long, director of incubation services at UF Innovate, shared on The Place Makers podcast, episode 10, along with Pete Cramer, director of development at Wexford, and Jabir McKnight, co-founder | director of campus recruitment & business development at DREAMBEACON, what needs to be done in order to be more innovative and more entrepreneurial in the world of higher education.

“I think we are severely lacking in the undergraduate area more than with graduate students, we are not involving them in entrepreneurship. They are going out to work in the private industry. Why won’t you expose them to entrepreneurship upfront? Therefore, we are partnering constantly with private corporations and development corporations, that can bring that aspect in the building, and we, as part of the academic unit, have to integrate it with academia,” Mark said. “That’s the key to provide the actual real-world experience that students need to get.”
