In today’s Tech Tuesday, UF Innovate introduces a lab at the University of Florida trying to amplify the body’s natural defenses in fighting cancer.

“What if our bodies are already equipped to protect ourselves from things like carcinogens? Let’s learn more. Dr. Zhang, tell us a little bit more about who you are, and what you do,” said Elora Duong, host of UF Innovate.

“So, my name is Donna Zhang. And my group has been studying a very important protein called NF2 that regulates cell protective mechanisms. So, as you all know that we are constantly exposed to environmental carcinogens and the toxicants, so upregulating this NF2 protective response can prevent us from diseases caused by carcinogens, such as cancer.” said Donna Zhang, molecular toxicologist at the University of Florida.
