The University of Florida’s Astraeus Space Institute marked a major milestone, with a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of its new Mission Operations Center at the Computer Science Engineering Building, located on main campus in Gainesville. The new facility provides Astraeus with a dedicated space to advance interdisciplinary research, collaboration and innovation in space exploration.
Faculty, university leaders, researchers, students and community partners gathered for the event to officially recognize the growth of Astraeus and its continued mission to bring together experts from across UF to address challenges and opportunities in the space sector.
Rachael Seidler, Ph.D., director of the Astraeus Space Institute and professor in the department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and Neurology, highlighted the significance of the new facility and Astraeus’ expanding role in advancing space research and collaboration.
