The federal government is supporting the groundbreaking work of another biotech startup in Alachua County.
The USDA has awarded a $500,000 grant to Pheronym, which works out of UF Innovate | Sid Martin Biotech. Pheronym started in the Hatchery at UF Innovate | The Hub before moving to its sister business incubator.
Pheronym is developing a pesticide-free way of controlling certain types of nematodes, which are microscopic organisms that can destroy crops and gardens.
