New College Ranking of Technology Transfer Has a Surprise Number Two

It seems for every college, there’s a list about colleges – a ranking. This one, from a non-partisan think tank called Heartland Forward, isn’t so much a ranking as it is a research paper scoring how well and how often school take their considerable research prowess and transfer it into markets. It’s a research ranking. the second spot on this list that may raise an eyebrow – The University of Florida. The school reached this lofty post, the paper found, despite having a research budget ranked just 29th.

Research to Renewal: Advancing University Tech Transfer

The American research university is a unique institution that much of the world has long tried to emulate. Many times under-appreciated in the U.S., research universities are one of the most important knowledge assets of cities and states for economic development purposes. These universities influence the economic prospects of their regions and the nation overall in multiple ways. That said, ranking overall in second place, the University of Florida is the top public university on this list.

UF Innovate Names New Director of Incubation Services

UF Innovate is pleased to welcome Karl R. LaPan as the incoming director of incubation services. He will join the team May 3 and work alongside current Director Mark S. Long, who will retire this summer. LaPan comes to the position with more than 20 years of experience in business incubation.
