NSF I-Corps is an immersive, experiential training program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) that enables academic researchers and entrepreneurs to extend their reach beyond the laboratory, de-risk their technologies, and maximize the impact of their research for societal benefit.
Academic faculty, postdocs, students, and staff, as well as community entrepreneurs, can enroll at NO COST. No prior commercialization knowledge is required, and the program is technology- and stage-agnostic. Academic researchers at all stages may apply. If you have a research idea or a business idea, learn more and get started by first enrolling in an Intro to NSF I-Corps workshop.
Attend a 1-hour workshop to get an overview of I-Corps and learn how innovators have leveraged the program to advance their research and career and how you can too.
Learn the customer discovery process, connect with stakeholders in your industry ecosystem, and de-risk your technologies.
Participants test hypotheses to identify target customers, determine unmet needs in the marketplace, and define a product or service that can deliver value to address those needs.
Teams that successfully complete a regional course gain NSF lineage and may be eligible to apply for the national NSF I-Corps Teams program and receive up to $50,000 to develop the full business model, or may be eligible for the 7-week Continuation Course.
Customized Training: If you have a group that you would like us to present to, or if you would like to incorporate I-Corps into the classroom, please reach out to us at nsficorps@ufl.edu to discuss. Our team can customize the training to your audience.
NSF I-Corps training workshops and regional courses are offered throughout the year at UF and across the NSF I-Corps Southeast Hub institutions.
