The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Electricity is launching Round 3 of the Digitizing Utilities Prize: Resilient Grid Innovation, a $2.5 million competition designed to drive digital transformation in the electric utility sector. This opportunity encourages interdisciplinary collaboration between utilities and energy sector stakeholders and software developers, data experts, and researchers to develop scalable solutions for grid modernization, particularly in the areas of data analytics, sensor integration, and risk-informed planning

This prize aims to support teams that can help utilities better manage, analyze, and leverage data to enhance grid reliability and resilience. The prize features two tracks with each track involving a two-phase process:. Phase 1 winners (up to eight per track) will receive $75,000 each. Phase 2 winners (up to three per track) will receive $200,000 each.

Interested teams must form or partner with an eligible energy sector entity in the U.S. to participate. The submission deadline for Phase 1 of both tracks is Sept. 30, 2025, 5 p.m. EST. To learn more, click here.
