Join Elijah Francis of Fifth Third Bank for an engaging Lunch & Learn on how small businesses can get more from their banking relationships. This event at UF Innovate | The Hub is open to the public.

This presentation will highlight the full range of banking services available to small businesses, with a special focus on business credit and lending while emphasizing that a bank can be much more than just a source of financing.
Attendees will learn:
- How small businesses build and maintain credit How creditworthiness is measured for small businesses
- The connection between personal and business credit
- The documents and information needed for small business credit applications
- Strategies for building stronger relationships with bankers

The session will also explore how business owners can use their bank as a trusted resource for day-to-day operations, growth planning, cash flow management, and long-term success. Elijah Francis
Elijah Francis is a Financial Center Manager with a strong background in retail and business banking. He has experience leading teams, developing client relationships, and helping individuals and businesses achieve financial growth through tailored solutions.
Elijah began his banking career as a relationship banker, where he built expertise in financial analysis, customer service, and business development. He now focuses on supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners with strategic banking insights and guidance.

Meet the Speakers:
Alex Johnson
Alex is an experienced intellectual property attorney with a focus on patents and trademarks. He supports U.S. and foreign-based clients in protecting critical IP and developing strategies to maximize and leverage the value of IP assets. With over a decade of experience in patent searches, patent application preparation, patent prosecution, trademark assessments, and validity and infringement analyses. Alex helps manage portfolios for early-stage companies, venture-backed entities, and established businesses.
Alex has a degree in chemistry but works extensively in the mechanical and electrical fields in addition to the chemical arts. In addition to his patent and trademark practice, Alex assists in all transactional and commercial agreements involving intellectual property including master services agreements, manufacturing agreements, licensing agreements, and technology transfer agreements. Alex brings a knowledgeable and innovative approach to the growth of his client’s IP portfolio.
Regardless of whether the client is a first time inventor or an established company, Alex utilizes his skill and understanding of the ever-changing field of intellectual property to reach and exceed his client’s goals. Alex is a member of the Ohio Bar Association and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
JR Moore
JR advises venture capital and private equity fund sponsors on fund formation, ongoing operational matters, and portfolio investment transactions. His practice spans the full lifecycle of private funds, including formation, marketing, closings, and governance, as well as transactions involving transfers of limited partnership interests, portfolio investments, and other related operational and strategic matters.
He also represents institutional investors in connection with commitments to private investment funds including venture capital, growth equity and private equity funds. He regularly drafts, reviews, and negotiates fund and investment documentation, including offering materials, limited partnership and operating agreements, internal general partner and management company agreements, subscription agreements, side letters, and LP transfer agreements.
In addition, JR represents startups, early-stage, and growth-stage companies throughout their corporate lifecycle and counsels investors in venture capital transactions, including the identification and investment in technology companies across a range of industries and geographies.
