UF/IFAS Researchers Will Use AI To Assess Livestock Mobility

Samantha Brooks, a UF/IFAS geneticist and associate professor of equine physiology – along with other UF researchers -- have been awarded a $49,713 grant from the Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) for this research. The team will combine machine learning with gait analyses to speed their assessment of livestock mobility.

UF startup Cannabix Technologies Inc., developer of marijuana breathalyzer devices for law enforcement and the workplace reports that it will be attending and presenting its research: Correlation of Breath and Blood Cannabis Levels Using Custom-Made Breath Sample Collection and Analysis Methods at Breath Summit 2022 hosted by the International Association of Breath Research (IABR) in mid-June 2022.

Three UF Faculty Elected to Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida

Three University of Florida faculty will be inducted into the Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine of Florida in 2022. The academy, which recognizes the work of individuals of the State of Florida who have made major achievements in science, engineering, and medicine, will present awards to the following faculty during its annual meeting on November 5-6 in Orlando.

The director of the National Science Foundation, one of the country’s largest and most impactful federal research agencies, visited the University of Florida last week to discuss opportunities for university researchers as well as the agency’s priorities and vision.
