About I-Corps

NSF I-Corps is an immersive, experiential training program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) that enables academic researchers and entrepreneurs to extend their reach beyond the laboratory, de-risk their technologies, and maximize the impact of their research for societal benefit.

I-Corps Training

  • The NSF I-Corps program provides a structured framework, tools, and resources to build the skills to translate your technology, accelerate commercialization, and increase the impact of your research and career.
  • I-Corps participants gain valuable real-world insights into understanding market opportunities, which enhances their chances of advancing their research and developing a product or solution that addresses a customer’s unmet need.
  • Under expert guidance and industry mentorship, participants use evidence-based and iterative methods to explore their industry ecosystem. Participants learn how to connect with stakeholders and ask the right questions to determine the target customers’ needs.
  • Academic faculty, postdocs, students, and staff, as well as community entrepreneurs, can enroll at NO COST. No prior commercialization knowledge is required, and the program is technology- and stage-agnostic. Academic researchers at all stages may apply. If you have a research idea or a business idea, learn more and get started by first enrolling in an Intro to NSF I-Corps workshop.

Teams that successfully complete a regional course gain NSF lineage and may be eligible to apply for the national NSF I-Corps Teams program and receive up to $50,000 to develop the full business model, or may be eligible for the 7-week Continuation Course.
