<p class="text | article-text">In this week’s Tech Tuesday, UF Innovate spotlights Dr. Joshua Moon and his University of Florida lab, which is developing new technologies to eliminate forever chemicals from water.</p>
<p class="text | article-text">“What if there are better ways to clean your water? Let’s learn more. Josh Moon, tell us a little bit more about who you are and what you do,” said Elora Duong, host of UF Innovate.</p>
<p class="text | article-text">“Yeah, so I’m an assistant professor of chemical engineering here at [the] University of Florida, and my lab is essentially trying to create new technologies to be able to remove per- and perfluoroalkyl substances from water. They’re also known as PFAS or sometimes called forever chemicals,” said Dr. Joshua Moon, assistant professor at UF’s Department of Chemical Engineering.</p>

<p class="text | article-text">“Yeah, I’m first a professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, but I get the honor and privilege to lead our Florida Semiconductor Institute. So, the Florida Semiconductor Institute, or FSI, is a statewide entity that’s trying to coordinate our education programs, our university systems, research and development, and ultimately the industry, to create more jobs in the state for Floridians,” said Dr. David Arnold, professor at the UF Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.</p>

<p>“Think you can build a bridge in five minutes? We’re here with the UF Steel Bridge team to learn more Damian, tell us about who you are and what you do at Steel Bridge?” asked Gaffey.</p>



<p>“I am a fourth-year civil engineering major. I’m currently the 2024-2025 project manager at Steel Bridge. My job this year is to manage a project, make sure that we run on time and keep everything moving smoothly,” said Damian Blanco, project manager at UF Steel Bridge.</p>

This competition will highlight up to six of the University of Florida’s top startups, offering Miami’s influential investors an exclusive first look at the university’s rising talent.</p>
