										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nearly 200 university researchers and representatives of the space industry gathered Tuesday (4/21) at the Kennedy Space Center to launch the next phase of the Florida Space Research Consortium (FSRC), a statewide partnership designed to align Florida’s universities around space research, innovation and workforce development.</p>
<p>Representatives of the eight partner institutions in the consortium — Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida A&amp;M University, Florida Institute of Technology, Florida International University, Florida State University,  the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida — joined NASA officials, space industry leaders and investors in a day-long discussion of how to strengthen Florida’s competitiveness in a rapidly expanding global space economy.</p>

<p>Florida Venture Forum, Florida’s largest statewide support organization for investors and entrepreneurs, announced the recipients of $150,000 in award dollars and investment from Space Florida during its 17th annual Early Stage Venture Conference in Orlando.</p>



<p>The conference featured 29 selected companies from a highly competitive pool of applicants across the state. A panel of judges representing Space Florida and Florida Venture Forum evaluated each company based on innovation, market opportunity, and alignment with Florida’s targeted high-growth sectors, including aerospace, defense, and emerging technologies. 6 standout companies were selected to receive a combined total of $150,000 in Space Florida investment to help accelerate their growth and commercialization efforts.</p>

<p>Space Florida’s Board of Directors designated the Florida University Space Research Consortium, as the state’s official space research entity, which will facilitate the awarding of NASA research grants in partnership with Kennedy Space Center.</p>



<p>The University of Florida (UF), the University of Central Florida (UCF), and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), formally requested that the Board designate the consortium as the official research entity. This partnership among Florida’s leading space research and higher education institutions will fuel innovative research and maintain Florida’s position as a leader in national space policy and space technology research initiatives. Space Florida’s support will provide crucial backing as the consortium collaborates on advanced projects with both NASA and Florida’s private sector, strengthening the state’s aerospace ecosystem.</p>
