“Since the professorships were created in 1997, over 900 faculty have been named UFRF Professors,” said David Norton, UF’s vice president for research. “These are our most innovative and productive faculty, with a proven record of research and scholarship and the potential for even more success in the future.”

The UFRF Professors were recommended by their college deans based on nominations from their department chairs, a personal statement and an evaluation of their recent research accomplishments as evidenced by publications in scholarly journals, external funding, honors and awards, development of intellectual property and other measures appropriate to their field of expertise.

In this week’s Tech Tuesday, UF Innovate’s host Bethany Gaffey introduces Dr. Prabhat Mishra from the department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. Dr. Mishra and his lab are researching various aspects of quantum computing, focusing on developing faster and more efficient computing solutions.

“You may have heard of quantum physics, but have you ever heard of quantum computing? We’re here at UF’s Malachowsky Hall to learn more. Prabhat, tell us more about who you are and what you do,” said Gaffey.

Dr. Mishra was elevated to the distinction for his “contributions to system-on-chip validation and design automation of embedded systems.” Dr. Thai was elevated for her “contributions to modeling, design, and optimization of networked systems.”

IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this elevation.
